Iconosquare alternative: analytics, or hashtag research

If you are shopping for an Iconosquare alternative, the first thing worth settling is which of its two jobs you actually open it for. Iconosquare is an analytics-first social media platform: it connects the profiles you own and reports on how their posts performed, with scheduling, reporting and a listening section layered on top. Its hashtag features sit inside that. They measure the tags on posts that already exist in an account you or a competitor runs. If what you need instead is to find out which tags a niche posts under before you write anything, you are looking for a different kind of tool, and it costs a fraction of a suite subscription.

This guide covers what Iconosquare is as of September 2026, what it costs, who should stay with it, and what each alternative is genuinely better at. Figures about other products are quoted from their own pages as of September 2026, and plans change, so check them before you buy.

The short verdict

What Iconosquare actually measures

Iconosquare’s own navigation, as of September 2026, groups the product into Analytics, Reporting, Scheduling, Collaboration, Conversations, Listening and AI tools. The listening entry is described in one line:

Listening Track mentions, competitors, hashtags.

That is accurate, and it is also the source of most of the confusion in an Iconosquare alternative search. Two different things get called hashtag features:

If your question is the second kind, a suite is an expensive way to not answer it.

Iconosquare pricing, as of September 2026

Iconosquare prices by number of social profiles and users. These are its published annual-billing figures, taken from its plans page and re-read on 1 October 2026, after it changed them:

PlanPrice (annual billing)ProfilesUsersPosts
Free€0/month2110/month per profile
Starterfrom €9/month3 (5 for €15)130/month
Launchfrom €33/month51100/month
Scalefrom €69/month5 (up to 20 for €219)3unlimited
Customfrom €116/month5 to unlimited1 to unlimitedunlimited

Two details matter more than the headline numbers. Those prices are the yearly-billing rate, and Iconosquare’s own FAQ says annual plans offer “up to 17% discount (2 months free) compared to monthly billing”, so a month-to-month bill is higher than the table. And the plan that carries listening is near the top: Iconosquare’s FAQ describes Scale as being for “marketing teams managing multiple brands or accounts (3 users, unlimited posts, campaign tracking, collaboration and listening tools)”, and the Scale card itself lists “Monitor competitors, hashtags & industry trends” as one of the things it adds. If the hashtag and competitor screens are the reason you are subscribing, the entry plans are not where they live.

Who should stay with Iconosquare

Stay if any of these is true:

Switching away from an analytics suite also costs you history. Your past data lives in the tool that collected it, so export what you care about before you cancel anything.

The alternatives, by which job you are replacing

Replacing the suite: a lighter all-in-one

If you want a calendar plus analytics and the Iconosquare bill is the problem, the nearest comparison is Metricool, which prices by brand rather than by profile and publishes a free tier of its own. It is broader and shallower: more networks, less depth per network. We wrote that comparison out in full in the Metricool alternative guide, and the same reasoning applies to the schedulers in the Buffer alternative guide if publishing is the only screen you open.

Replacing the tag screens: a research tool

This is the switch that saves the most, because you stop paying a team-plan price to reach one section. Options worth knowing:

Be straight about the state of our own product, because it decides whether we are your answer today. The planner is free and needs no account. Turning a plan into the posts, the numbers and the CSV is open, on the 500 free rows a signed-in account gets every 30 days, and nothing takes payment yet. Our pricing page publishes what the paid plan will cost ($9.00/month for 10,000 rows of results) before it goes on sale rather than after. If you need more than 500 collected posts a month this week, use one of the tools above and come back.

The rows are the whole argument. These are two products that share a word and answer different questions.

How to switch without losing anything

  1. Name the screen you actually open. If it is the analytics dashboard, stop here and stay. If it is the hashtag or competitor section, carry on.
  2. Export your history. Reports and analytics data live in the tool. Download what you would miss before the subscription lapses.
  3. Run the same question through the alternative. Take a tag you already track and see whether the new tool tells you something the dashboard did not. Our planner is free and takes a sentence, so this step costs nothing.
  4. Downgrade rather than cancel, if you are unsure. Iconosquare’s FAQ says accounts convert to the free plan rather than disappearing, which keeps basic analytics alive while you test.
  5. Cancel on your own schedule. Its FAQ states subscriptions can be canceled at any time from account settings, with monthly plans ending at the current billing cycle and annual plans running until the prepaid period expires.

The one-line answer

Iconosquare is a strong analytics platform for profiles you own, and a costly way to reach a hashtag screen. If you are reading reports, stay. If you are researching tags you have never posted under, start with a brief and keep your money.
